The first-ever electric Sierra EV will arrive early in 2024, providing a new option in the electric pickup truck market. Both GM electric trucks, Silverado EV and Sierra EV, arrive for the 2024 model year, with the GMC version offering expected levels of luxury and comfort. This new GMC EV begins with the Denali Edition 1, which is an uncompromising pickup with top-level features and driving range, making it a capable and dedicated electric truck.

The new 2024 GMC Sierra EV is the second electric truck from the brand, following the Hummer EV pickup. Both GMC EVs utilize the Ultium platform to offer impressive driving range and capability. As the top trim in the new electric truck lineup, the Denali Edition 1 costs more than $100,000, but more affordable options will follow later in 2024. The Elevation and AT4 trim will appear later in the year, but the top trim brings everything EV truck owners desire in their new pickups.

GMC provides an excellent list of truck-related features in the new Sierra EV, making it capable and useful on job sites or when pulling a boat to the lake. This new electric GMC truck is capable and packed with great ways to haul cargo or carry materials to where you need to go. This truck might be the most refined among electric trucks, but it’s bold, packed with modern style, and offers excellent functionality. When it’s time to pull a trailer, this new electric truck can pull up to 9,500 pounds and can carry up to 1,300 pounds in the bed. The trailering package comes standard in the Sierra EV Denali Edition 1.

GMC developed the MultiPro Tailgate in earlier gas-powered versions of the Sierra. This feature has six different functions to make cargo carrying, loading, and unloading much easier. There’s also a new MultiPro Midgate feature, which opens the rear wall between the bed and cab to create up to 11 feet of cargo length. Even with the midgate lowered, there’s room for one passenger to sit in the rear seats. Finally, a large front trunk, or frunk is an excellent additional cargo storage area located where a gas-powered engine used to reside under the hood.

Although this new GMC electric truck tops the six-figure price scale, it’s in the ballpark with other top-level EVs. The Sierra EV distinguishes itself with incredible interior materials, modern and advanced technology features, and ample cabin space for a family or work crew. The cabin offers an airy feeling with the all-new panoramic fixed glass roof stretching above both rows. This sense of spaciousness makes the cabin more inviting and enjoyable.

The high-class cabin provides versatility that allows this truck to be useful. This includes a 60/40 split-folding second row that enables the MultiPro Midgate to be used for extra cargo room. The classy cabin design includes embroidered Denali logos in the front seat backs. The open-pore wood trim extends to the doors and instrument panel, giving this truck a cozy and luxurious feeling.

This new electric GMC Sierra pickup truck is filled with incredible technology and advanced features. Everything about this truck’s tech is designed to be intuitive and make this truck much more useful than expected. Most Sierra EV owners will use the Super Cruise feature in the Denali Edition 1. This item enables hands-free driving on more than 400,000 miles of mapped roads in the United States and Canada.

The Air Ride Adaptive Suspension provides a more comfortable and capable ride in this truck. This feature raises or lowers the truck by nearly two inches, changing the driving manners on any road or trail. The EV-enabled propulsion tech includes Regen on Demand Braking, which captures braking energy to add more power to the battery pack. These features also include One Pedal Driving and the 4-Wheel Steer with CrabWalk. The CrabWalk feature was first introduced in the GMC Hummer EV SUV, enabling the Hummer EV to drive at an angle on trails with all four wheels turning together.

The central 16.8-inch infotainment screen is paired with an 11-inch diagonal reconfigurable driver information center and a multi-color Head Up Display measuring 14 inches. This means more confidence during your drive, which goes further with 14 available camera views to offer better visibility around the electric truck.

The My Mode setting is a fully customizable setting, while the Max Power mode delivers extreme torque levels for thrilling sprints. The Max Power mode enables the GMC Sierra EV to rocket to 60 mph in only 4.5 seconds.

The new 2024 GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 utilizes the Ultium battery pack to deliver up to 400 miles of driving range on a full charge. This platform is a structural element of this truck, giving it the strength, durability, and performance to handle big jobs. The Sierra EV utilizes a pair of electric motors, one on each axle, to deliver 754 horsepower and 785 lb-ft of torque to the wheels through the e4WD system in Max Power mode.

The 2024 Sierra EV includes a 19.2-kW onboard charger for home and public charging. This truck also features 800V DC Fast-Charging capability for up to 350-kW of charging, which is more than twice as fast as the 150-kW of the Ford F-150 Lightning. This fast charging system enables 100 miles of driving range to be added in only 10 minutes. Charging at home using a 240-volt outlet takes overnight to complete.

The Power Station Pro feature enables the Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 to be used as a mobile power source. The available Ultium Power Bar accessory delivers 10.2-kW off-board power through 10 outlets to power tools or accessories at your jobsite or campsite. This is enough power to keep the essential items in your home powered for up to 21 days, ensuring you won’t lose a refrigerator full of groceries if the power goes out.

The first round of new GMC Sierra EV trucks is expected to arrive in spring 2024, with the Elevation and AT4 trims arriving later in the year. This first model brings a hefty price of more than $100,000, but that didn’t slow down the Hummer EV when it first arrived. Elevation models should include a starting MSRP of around $50,000, with the AT4 falling between the Elevation and Denali Edition 1 trims.
