OTTAWA COUNTY, MI – Westbound I-96 is closed near Coopersville for a crash involving a semi-tractor trailer and passenger vehicle, authorities said.

The crash happened just before 9 a.m. on I-96 at 68th Avenue, or Exit 16, the state Department of Transportation said.

All westbound lanes west of 68th Avenue are closed, Ottawa County dispatchers reported.

Dispatchers advised motorists to seek an alternate route.

Traffic is backed up approaching the crash site.
